Ok gurus, I need some help. I think I finally understand how I'm gonna wire my components with amp and my subs with their own amp using an LOC. Here's my question. My main question comes with regards to my components. Is there anyway to utilize the stock wiring that's going to the speakers up front? Let me explain. I'm putting both my amps on the sub box on the back seat, so, I'll run speaker wire from the stock amp to the LOC located next to the amp (as recommend by David Navone). Then my RCA's to the component amp. Then I'll have to run speaker wire from the component amp all the way back through the cab through the doors to the crossover (assuming I locate it in the door, if anyone else has a better idea let me know), then out of the crossover to the individual mid and tweet. Right? My question is that, it seems like a big pain to run new speaker wire from the component amp all the way to the new crossover, is there someway to tie back into the stock wiring already going to those two speakers?
One last thing. Since I'm using the stock HU for all this, where in the world do I get the amp remote signal from?

Running speaker wire from the rear seat to the front speakers can be done under the carpet, then under the plastic pieces at the outtermost portions of the carpet that lie under the doors. Since your running an aftermarket amp, i dont see how you could use your factory wires for front door speakers without runnin wires to the speakers out of the amp. You have chosen to place your amp in the back seat area, which is to power the front speakers.
The amp remote is much simpler. Just run the wire to the 15A ACC fuse in the fuse block. Its hot when the key is on only, regardless of engine off or on. Just realize that even if the stereo is off, the amp will be on.

you can tap any existing speaker wire to run a remote to your amp.

Don't mean to stray off-course, but I've heard that it is not a good idea to mount your amps to a sub box. Makes logical sense because they have delicate components and all that thumping can break them loose over time. You may not have room elswhere, but do some research on mounting the amps to a sub box so you don't get burned down the road.

I put my crossovers in the doors. Its a lot easier. I am going with the stock speaker wires for now. It is such a hassle to run new wire from the door to the car. I might run the wire later but with all the other stuff I am doing I just don't have time right now.
Buy a new head unit! The stock one is lame. Plus, mine won't play burnt CD's. I hear some stock units do and some don't. Give it a try.
Mount one of the amps under the passenger seat. I also hear you can get one behind the rear seat. I think I will try that with my smaller amp.

I'm looking at doing a similar setup retaining the factory head unit. I'd like the stereo to look stock so no one falls in love with it and takes it home. But I'd hate to put a lot of work into it and have a poor signal from the factory head compromise the sound. So aside from not playing burned CD's, sound quality wise, can you comment on systems with aftermarket amps/subs/speakers using a factory head? I'd like to run an alpine amp off of the factory speaker leads and install infinity speakers and bazooka tube subs(which i already own). i've used several alpine heads installing stereos for friends in the past and love their sound. should i just go ahead and put in a new head?
