    Default DVD Players/Burnt DVDs

For you guys with the factory or aftermarket DVD players installed, have any of you had any luck playing burnt DVDs? I have a Blaupunkt ME1, no progressive scan, installed in my Sequoia and can't get it to play certain burnt DVDs, "- R" I believe. I have had success playing purchased blackmarket DVDs and was wondering what format are they? I know that the common formats are -R, +R, -RW, +RW, but how would you be able to format them to play on factory/aftermarket players? I was planning on getting a DVD burner but want to make sure that the burnt DVDs will work in the car player. Sorry if this seems obvious to most of you but I'm not very up to date with computer technology. Thanks in advance.

Find out for sure which formats your DVD player will support. DVD+R is usually the most compatible.
I have had good success with mine. I have had more trouble finding the media that works best with my DVD burner. Once you find a good combination of media plus burner, you shouldn't have any trouble as long as your DVD player supports that media format.

Some DVD players only play certain kinds of burned DVD's. My old DVD player would only play factory made DVD's and CD's. The newer ones usually play about anything thrown at them.

If you get a DVD burner for your computer, get an all format (+R,-R,+RW,-RW) and you can disc copy the -R's that aren't working in you player to a +R, if +R's work in your player.

Blank DVD's are really cheap now. You can go into the big box stores and get 50 for $20 pretty much every day.

I've got the factory player and it plays all my -R discs no problem.
