Default Factory Radio Exchange

I recently purchased an 05 Tundra Access cab and it has the factory amplified CD/Cassette stereo (not JBL) Toyota calls it the stereo with 6 speakers, if you want to call the tweeters speakers then there are 6 speakers
but I say four.

Anyway, I wanted to change out the head unit so I purchased the wiring harness and bracketry from Crutchfield, well the wiring harness does not work.
The harness that I bought was supposed to bypass the Amp and hook directly into the factory wiring.

I contacted Crutchfield and they say it should work and all I have to do is locate the Amp below the radio, well the Amp is no longer behind the dash, it is below the right rear passenger seat, there are 2 harnesses connected to the Amp and neither fits my adapter harness (the Amp is a Panasonic).

Does anyone have any idea's on how I can hook up my Sony radio to this vehicle except a complete wire job of the truck for speakers and power supply?

In my quest to locate a harness to adapt a stereo into my factory amp in my '03 I have found four different Toyota harnesses. One of which, I cannot locate anywhere, I have a part number, but no supplier. So if you havent tried at least 4 different harnesses, keep lookin. I went to Car Toys then to Best Buy.

There were two different Toyota adaptors and two different Toyota Amp intergration adaptors. Rediculous if you ask me, I ended up bypassing the amp with a harness that would fit.

Sorry, this probably doesnt help... : )

I don't know of an adapter, but I can tell you that on the '05 AC w/ 6CD the stock amplifier is under the rear passenger seat - under that black plastic cover. All the speaker wires originate there in a single connector. The connectors on the amplifier and the deck are different than what were on my 2000 with the 6CD changer.

I would keep in contact with Crutchfield. I have heard nothing but great things about their customer support.

Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with the 05, and wiring a new h/u to my existing aftermarket amp was not difficult, as I had the carpet pulled out to do some sound deadening at the time. Just ran custom RCA cable from the h/u to the amp under the seat, and used inline crimps (soldered the power connection) to wire my H/U to the amp, even though I had a harness handy.

You could peel back the carpet on the passenger side fairly easily, just remove the seat, door sills, kick panel and the very bottom of the dash (where it meets the hump). I guess with the new center console, it may be more complicated, but that's all that was required for my 00. You can id the power wires with a voltmeter or 12v indicator lamp and Toyota instruction manual (might be able to find some info in the TS garage).

I don't know if that helps at all, but good luck and be sure to post what you find out. I am sure you are not the only one trying to do this.
