Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "Ipod and Stereo", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I have a 2003 Tundra Limited which comes with AM/FM/Cas/6 CD in dash changer and I'm trying to figure out if it has any aux inputs in the back (before I take my dashboard apart.)
I'm trying to get away from the FM transmitter method for my ipod if at all possible.

Thanks,
Try doing a search using "ipod" as the search term. There is a ton of info on this subject.
Short answer is "no" but it can be done with some adapters. Take a look at the threads for instructions and detailed info.
i just got the AUX2 from Peripheral. Has a connector for the newer ipod and should be able to display titles and control the ipod from your stock unit. I just installed a JL stealth box and didn't want to upgrade the stock stereo. the AUX2 should be okay.

These guys specify only Lexus compatibility; however, I can't see why the back of a six-disc, in-dash head unit of the Lexus IS300 can differ that much from that of your six-disc, in-dash head unit (or the one in my 4Runner).
I've just ordered one of these today, so I'll see how it goes.

Just buy an Aux Input adapter from PIE. You can run MP3, DVD, CD changer, another CD player, TV, XM, Sirrus. ect ect ect ect ect ect off it.

Sorry guys, I just called the company and they do not have a unit compatible w/ the Tundra stereos. In fact they are only compatible if your Toyota has navigation. The tech person said that the plugs are not even the same and would not fit. Sounds like the units are built for more high end stock stereos.
Bummer cause it sounded like a really good unit.
As stated in the other ipod thread, this may be the ticket:
"All radios can fully control ipod functions, including: track up, track down, playlist selection, shuffle modes, scan, repeat, etc. Radios with text capability will display the playlist and track number, artist, track name and album name. Radios without text capability can display the information on a small dash-mounted LCD display."

i havent gotten my tundra yet but i know im getting the ipod2car when i do. my brother has it in his 03 silverado and it charges, sends audio to the factory headunit, and the ipod can be controlled through the steering wheel controls. it works the same in nearly all toyotas. find it on ebay for around $150. much cheaper than those other solutions listed. also for a mount, find a PRO-FIT cellular phone mount and use the OEM apple belt clip for a holder.
