I know there are a million Ipod threads going but I failed to see the answer to this question in any of them after reading for the past 10 minutes.
I have a 2005 Tundra with the factory stereo. I do not have a button on the front of my deck that says AUX or CHANGER but it is a CD Player and Tape Player and Stereo, blahblahblah just not the 6 in-dash unit. So, before I pull my stereo out do I still have the CD Changer option plug in the back? I want to hookup an Ipod using the convertors out there but I am unsure if I have a stock deck that doesnt even have that CD Changer plug in the back? Anyone? If I do then how would I access the changer without have a button on the face of the deck?
Thank you

All factory HU's have the cd changer port. Changing the input from the built in CD player to the connection on the cd changer port is by the CD/DISC button.

On my 04, when i press the CD button it acctivates the AUX channel and will display CD1. I used the PIE converter. It was simple to install and works good. Once in a blue moon it will kick the AUX channel off and ill have to cycle the key to enable CD1 again though.
IF the 05 is the same, then your set.

J,
Most CD Players/Tape decks will also control a stacker--- the radio should have a "DISC" button, pressing this button twice will connect to the cd changer port (if there is no cd in the unit), otherwise only one press is required.
They are lots of option available for iPods, including the ipod2car, pa10-toy and the auxiliary input adapters-- i've not used the ipod2car product, but i did install a pa10-toy in a 2004 4-Runner with the CD/Cassette radio and it has been working flawlessly for over a month.
Just like everyone else is saying - you should be set. I installed a DF-TOY in my 2005 Tundra which is JBL with a 6 cd changer in it. I also installed one in my wife's Highlander which is just a radio with only a single cd player.
Your will have a cd changer plug in the back which you can use to connect the aux adapter. You will just have to press the DISC or CD button to select that port.
Good luck to you - taking the radio out of a Tundra is a piece of cake - just pull out the climate controls knobs and unscrew the three screws. Then unscrew the two screws at the top of the air vents. Once those are removed the panel just snaps out.
I'm not sure what the price difference is but the below linked adaptor looks like it does more than the toy adaptor. It actually shows the song name and artist on the radio too. Am I missing something?
It just cost more than the DF-TOY which is $60. With the DF-TOY you have to control your IPOD like before (when you used FM) but at least it sounds better through your radio.
Vikecowboy I found the link for the DF-TOY. After looking at pictures how do you connect the Ipod to it? It doesnt look made for an ipod so I am wondering what else you have to buy to use it?
Thanks

No, the sound is better than using FM for the signal is going straight into the radio. The only bummer thing about the DF-Toy is that it does not charge your ipod. When I hook my monster FM adapter to it to charge it I get a little static on the sound even though I am going straight into the radio. I think if I used a basic car charger not an fm one, I would not get any static.
The other more expensive AUX adapters do charge your IPOD and you would not get any static using it - but you pay more for it.

Just talked with the folks who are making this adapter. Right now it is only for GM and VW vehicles. They do not have a timeline on when they might have one for Toyota. The cable for GM and VW at this time is still not available.

Okay, thanks for that information. It sure sounds good but we'll have to wait for our Toyota's.

I found this that's compatiable with the Toyota OEM Stereo and it also charges the iPOD. You can also control it with the stereo and steering wheel controls. It's a NEO iON and it costs $190.
2. Charges IPOD and you can control IPOD with radio controls and steering wheel controls but you cannot control IPOD with IPOD controls - only radio controls. http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=711
