Default Portable MP3 Player Recommendation for 05 Taco

I'm looking to add the PIE Toy03 mod to my 05 Taco.

I currently have a Nike/Phillips MP3 256MB player. Its okay but I want to get something that has at least 1G. An FM tuner would be nice and if it can act as a secondary storage device that would be awesome too.

I definitely do not want an iPod.

I heard that Creative has a good one?

Any recommendations for a portable MP3 Player?

Default iRiver

Had a creative Nomad, it sucked
Tried an RCA Lyra, it blew
Discovered iRiver and the thing is incredible, I highly recommend anything from iRiver

i also endorse the iRiver product

iRiver ihp-120

i have one and love this thing. very capable and full of features. supports almost every known music file format. great battery life and remote. drag and drop files from windows with ease. also used as a portable storage device for files. holds 20gb.

may have some trouble finding one as they appear to be out of production now. mine was a floor model closeout.

www.misticriver.net great site for all iRiver products

Do you use Musicmatch with this one? I use it for all my music files but sometimes its a pain loading mp3's from MM onto my 128mb iRiver...
How much was this unit?

Check out the info on the www.allofmp3.com and my new sound system of course!

K 05 Taco Dudes check this out . . .

Alpine CDA-9853
Alpine Ipod Controller KCA - 42???
www.crutchfield.com

Phoenix Gold 100.4 Xenon Amp
120(RMS) X 4 channels
www.hifisoundconnection.com

Tacoma 2005 Speaker Mounts
www.tacotunes.com

JBL Polk Audio MMC 6x9
JBL Polk Audio MMC 6.5 Rears
www.crutchfield.com

OMG what a H U G E difference. I am sooo glad i got the cash back for my truck. I got a huge discount cause my truck did not have the JBL system.

I still have to install:

Phoenix Gold 400.1 Xenon MonoBlock AMP
www.hifisoundconnection.com

Fosgate Sub

Check out my sled @ www.cardomain.com/id/robsatx drop me some votes when you are there.

OK, there is a site called www.allofmp3.com you can get ENTIRE CDS (digital downloads) for about $1.50. Songs are about $.07 to $.18 cents.

I have about 3000 songs on my IPOD and now they are in my car. The sound is UNREAL!! I love it!!

I copied the installation from the guys at tacotunes.com. Don't even what to think about what I spent on everything. Extras like,

120' of Monster Cable - had to run two wires to every door with my MMCs.
3 sets of gold RCA inputs
Tons of FATMAT

Anyway could not stand the crappy sound system in the Tacoma. Now I don't want to get out o my ride.

If you get a chance check out my ride and vote for me! Thanks!

I have the iRiver H320 and it is more than I could ask for. Vibrant color and video support are icing on the cake along with the features Palomino mentioned. When playing mp3's it lasts about 24 hours per charge. It was a $200 closeout at Best Buy, they may be hard to locate these days. ebay maybe?

Eat your heart out, I got an Empeg. NOTHING compares to it; not a creative-whatever, not a neo crap-noise, not anything that plays mp3s.

Car Support to be Discontinued, 01-May-2003
As you may be aware, the Rio division of SONICblue was recently sold at auction. The new owners decided not to purchase the car player support operation which remains with SONICblue, and as a result will be discontinued at the end of this month (May 2003).

Those of you who have car players in for repair will no doubt be worried about what will happen to your player. Please do not worry: all repairs will be completed and the players will be returned to you. For players undergoing warranty repair, there will be no charges as was agreed prior to you sending the player in. For players undergoing paid repair, there will be agreed charges to pay, again as agreed prior to you sending the player. There will not be any unexpected surprises.

The future of support for the players is as yet not determined, however we are hopeful that a good value and long term solution will be found. Negotiations are taking place right now and there will be further announcements about this in the near future.

In the mean time carsupport@sonicblue.com (or support@empeg.com) will continue to be available at your service. Please note, however, that the last of the warranties have expired and so hardware servicing for newly reported issues will be on a charged basis in all cases.

If you have any questions about this, I would recommend that a BBS thread is a good place to discuss them, so that everybody can benefit from the answers. Otherwise, please feel free to email support
