Issues with Electronic Ratio Adapters
Maybe this is in the right place. If not, please move it and let me know.
There has been some scattered chatter, mostly in the past, about the little electronic adapters that "fix" electronic speedometer errors from tire size changes, gearing changes and the like.
There has been very little discussion regarding any issues that may or may not be happening. I am looking into them and was curious about other's experiences with them. Have any of you that have used them come across any issues that would make you think twice about installing one again? One seems to be screwy shift points after installation. Another cautions against using it with ABS brake systems.
I can find reference to about 3 or 4 different models on the Internet and they seem to range in cost from a little less than a 100 bucks to a little less than $200.
If I go that route, I will put one in an '03 Tundra Limited Access Cab. The amount of error isn't great, only a couple or 3 mph, and the odo is short approximately 5 miles per 100. For most people it isn't enough to worry about, and probably isn't, but my fragile mind doesn't work that way and I like stuff to read correctly, which I guess is my anal compulsion.
Anyway, all views, facts and opinions are welcomed by me and maybe others too.
