    Default Circuit City Install Work

I returned from a trip to Moab and was happy to discover my GF had a stereo installed for me in my 05 Tundra. Unfortunately, Circuit City seemed to do a shady job on the install. My airbag light is now on all the time, any ideas why? I noticed the install kit around the face of the deck is bowing a little, anyone else have this problem? I noticed a factory amp was removed, is this correct when installing an aftermarket deck?

Any help would be great. Thank you she is taking it back to CC tomorrow to have them fix their work or put it back to stock. Please help.

The factory amp does have to be removed for the install, and my install kit bowes as well in the center of the deck...weird. Have you noticed your dash "creaking and rattling" more around that area, mines doing it and driving me nuts!

The factory amp doesn't have to be removed, but you should bypass it.

Airbag light on could be that they didn't reconnect the wire behind the panel to the passenger airbag defeat switch. It's a simple fix if that's what it is...just need to plug the wire back in.

Thank you for the help. I took it back over there today and the guy said that when they removed the seat and unplugged the air bag sensor they turned the truck on and the computer probably detected the airbag as missing and threw the light. Sounds possible to me. I will go to Toyota tomorrow and have them check and reset the ECU.

Everything else was okay they said the kit does bow a little like that I put something in that space to help straighten it out.

I am wondering one thing there is this big black piece that looks like some protective panel they removed that when I asked the didnt remember where it came from. I will try and post a pic of it but its rather big maybe 10-12 inches long and L shaped like a cover of some sort. Anyone?

    Thanks

You don't have to bypass or remove the factory amp. I have an 02' AC and installed my Alpine CDA-9815 using I believe the harness for a Lexus model (don't remember the number). It had two sets of RCA inputs, one front, one rear. They plugged into the preamp outputs of my headunit.

Of course, if your head unit doesn't have preamp outputs then you would have to bypass the amp.. but what current HU doesn't have preamp outputs.

Just wanted to update people on what happened.

The installer at CC ended up yanking the drivers seat out when they replaced the head unit thus pulling apart one of the airbag sensors in the seat. The total bill for replacing the sensor and wires was $658. Circuit City had to pay for this including my rental car for a week.

Please be careful who you take your vehicle to for installs or repairs. I wouldnt have used CC at all but like I said above this wasnt my call.

    Good luck.

I would also like to praise Toyota of Rancho Santa Margarita for helping me out with this and making sure it was taken care of and paid for by the right party. Thank you Mike Horner.
