Default Is Power Acoustik any good?

Hey guys im new here and own an '01 tundra and thought this would be the best place to find how to upgrade my sound system. I was thinking i would make a box for the rear compartment and put a 10 inch sub back there. I found the power acoustik sub and matching amp and it seems really good for the price but they dont have the brand at any local places for me to check out. I was wondering if any of you guys had tried the brand as i was looking for a cheap alternative for the 2 8's and the Q-logic box. Thanks.

well i wanted to do it piece by piece because my speakers actualy sound alright but it needs some bass. i was going to add an amp and sub(s) to it right now then later on replace the HU and put some components up front. Maybe around 300-400 for the sub/amp and another 400 for Hu/speakers.

For that budget I'd highly recommend you check out some of the Elemental Design stuff. You can get a 10" 11Kv.2 sub and a Nine.4 amp to power it for only $297 shipped with a package deal. The Nine.4 is a four channel amp. You could bridge the rear channels for the sub and then run a set of components off the front (that's what I'm doing now and it's great. I'd still like it a little louder, but for most other people this setup would be ideal). If you wanted to save some money upfront, you could add a set of EDi 6000s component speakers to the package for only $128 more, so $425 total for the sub, amp and comps. That would leave you with $300-$400 for the HU, or to put more $$ back in your pocket! ED makes some excellent equipment as many people on here will vouch for.

yep, I love eD gear. For that price, it would be foolish not to go with that. Do you have the premium (jbl) system, already? For me, I had the JBL, and wanted to keep the factory HU, and the factory components were decent enough to not warrant spending money on them, so I did a JL Audio 10w1v2-4 and an e1200 monoblock. Total cost was under $250.

Ya the speakers dont sound half bad but i'd like to take some of the bass load off of them because they really cant handle it when i turn the volume way up. How do you tell if you have the Jbl system in your truck? I have front components (tweeter separate from speaker) but is there some way you can tell? thanks.

head unit should have a JBL logo, as well as the speaker pods on the door should say JBL.

With my setup, I have the bass at "0" and it shakes the seats.... Really happy with how it turned out.
