Default Front Speaker JBL

I need to replace the front woofer speaker of a JBL 10 speaker system in my sequoia. I called the dealer and they wanted $200 for one speaker (part # 86160-AF060). This speaker consists of a 7" woofer 2.2ohms 28 watts, a 2.2" mid at 3-4ohms 10watts, and the tweeter. I would like to get a speaker that maintains the impedance match, since I only have to replace the woofer I was thinking I could get a speaker that is about 2 ohms like the Infinty 62.7i. Since thsi is a two way speaker it has connections fro the woofer and the tweeter. the speaker is rated for 2 ohms but I am not sure if that is just the woofer or a combination of tweet/woofer. Is there a way to just change the speaker with an of the shelf item and not sacrificing the way the HU drives these?

Another alternative I was considering was just refurbushing the foam around tghe original speaker for $30 , this avoids my connections , bracket modification and matching impedance problems but its not a sure fix.
Help is appreciated

Did I gather correctly that the surround is torn on one of the drivers? If so, I would back your suggestion to fix the surround and leave all else alone.

Partsexpress.com has some repair kits.

Hello Mark , Thanks for giving me your opinion. The foam sorrounding the cone of the speaker was brittle, hence at low frequncies the speaker would make vibrating noises. Since I am keeping the same HU I am limited in speaker selections, I was hoping to upgrade the speakers to ones having better material but there is no inexepensive solution to this. i have found a local palce where they refoam ( and recone if needed, $60) these speakers for $30/ each. I most likely will do this unless I hear a better solution.
Thanks
Tneg

If you're gonna replace a speaker, if it's not an EXACT match, you should replace the pair.
