Default 2006 SCION CD/MP3 player in a Tundra

Does anyone know if the (Pioneer) Scion head unit for 2006 will fit in the Tundra?
I know some folks have had success fitting the 2004 and 2005 models in the Tundra (see this thread). http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...player-tundra/
I have not heard anything about the 2006 model (part # 08600-21802).

It looks similar to the earlier models except it seems to have a rotary volume button (definitely a plus).

For those of you that haven’t seen the Scion head unit I have included the specs below:

160 Watts of sound power
Built-in DSP sound equalization
Scion Sound Processing (SSP)
MP3 compressed audio playback
Up to 10 hours of playback 1 disc
WMA format capable
Satellite Radio ready
XM/SIRIUS Satellite Radio tuner (optional)
Mini-jack port
Steering wheel audio controls
Additional Features on THIS upgrade Audio
NEW volume and multi-jog knob controls
10 Color Change LCD Display
iPod connector port with cable

did you ever get an answer to this?
I have an 03 ac and would like to put in the 06 scion as well. I have bought one and it should arrive soon. Hope I am not wasting time (and money).

Absolutely the exact fit for my 03 with 6 disk indash and amp in dash. Sounds much better than stock, plays wma and mp3, xm ready (just subscribe), and my steering wheel controls work! Plugs match perfectly.
This is a 30 minute mod and worth the effort. Certainly the easiet stereo mod I have ever done.

thanks to a couple of folks on this forum for giving me the encouragement to try this mod. Nothing like being a guinea pig. We knew the older Scion units would work but would require a little trimming. This is exact fit.

The Scion had an aux input jack for mp3 players located in the console for this head. If I can get ahold of a Scion wiring diagharm I wll add the aux input.

Highly recommend.

Just installed a 2006 Scion head unit in my 2006 Tundra DC (Non JBL). Works percfect, fits perfect, sounds 10 times better than stock. Just plug and play, no mods required. Best bang for the buck so far.

Are you looking into the iPOD/AUX input jack ... I got a 05 Scion radio for my 02' tundra ... plug and play, just requres a little dash trim to be shaved.

I really want to get the ipod/aux connection setup ... anyone got suggestions?

I don't know. I had the upgraded non JBL system and had to remove the factory amp to get the cables that were going to it and plug them in to the 06 Scion unit. My factory unit with the factory amp is recognised by looking for front door tweeters. I don't know how you tell if yours is a JBL. Maybe someone that has one for sure can tell you. Do a search for one of my posts for instructions if you need help with the install. Good luck.

Slightly different story: I have an 04 Rav4 with a double din slot for the original stereo. I have just purchased a model 1808 Scion radio with built in ipod interface. The radio fits in the slot and looks to be plug and play. The difficult part for hooking up an Ipod to these Scion radio for those installing in other Toyota models has been how to connect the Ipod to the radio. In a Scion, as I understand it, there are two cables that get the Ipod connector to a plug in the console. Those cable are impossible to purchase. This guy on ebay,
Scion – Apple ipod Interface cable - SC12235 , who is a great guy, sells a single cable that hooks the ipod to the scion radio. it recharges the ipod and allows you to do all the file stuff on the face of the radio. At least that's what I understand. The cable is around $70, but I do believe it is the best solution. My guess is it will work similarly in a tundra.
