Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "1996 Toyota Avalon", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I need help on my 1996 Toyota Avalon. I need the radio code. It says HELP on the radio screen. It used to say SEC on it. Now it says HELP. I changed the battery and it suddenly says SEC on it but now it says HELP. I also need to know how to put the code in. If you know how to do this can you help me. Thanks!
I have a 97 and had a similar problem. I reset the radio by disconnecting the positive battery terminal. Not sure if this will work for you but worth a try.
Take it to a dealer to have the code reset. You only get 9 errors before it locks up for good. After that, only the dealer or someone with resets can do it. HELP is after the 9th strike. Its in the manual..
