MP3 and bluetooth are internal. The satellite requires a short cable modified (basically you take two cables and turn them into one "Y" cable). How to do it, is documented in various places.

Want I really wanted is the Sat function on the E7007. The E7006 that came with my truck doesn't have it. Has anyone tried to replace the E7006 with an E7001 which has the Sat button? And does anyone know the difference between the E7006 and the E7001?

Actually, I had satellite on both my E7006 and E7007. I added satellite to my E7006 before I replaced the unit.

Is there something specific that you feel prvents this?

After doing more research on this website I realize that it that sat function should be working on my E7006. I'm using a Vais SLX and can only get it to work on the CD emulation mode, which is very awkward to use. I contacted Vais and was told that their unit is working properly and that my stereo is not compatible.

The Toyota satellite kits work fine (both XM and Sirius). It would be far cheaper to change to one of those kits.

Just thought I'd update. The glass mounted sirius radio antenna was cutting out too much, so I replaced it with a permanent roof mount antenna. See this thread: Permanent Sirius Antenna 1st Gen Tundra
