Default DC JBL 8 speaker setup question

I've replaced the stock unit with my Alpine CDA-9835 so that I can get XM back. I don't have the time to install new speakers at the moment so I've tapped new speaker wires into the JBL amp harness at the back of the cab.

The problem is the tweeters. The wiring diagrams show that the tweeters are wired to the front speakers but nothing comes from them when just the front speakers are connected to the head unit.

So I jumped the tweeter wires to the front speaker wires and they came alive (at the amp harness). Considering the various impedences of the speakers in the stock setup, would I be best jumping the tweeters to the front speakers or the rear speakers? Fade and balance are set equal on the headunit, I am just worried about what load is being presented to the headunit and which way will sound best until I can get around to replacing the speakers.
