If you buy a head unit from Crutchfield over $200, they'll provide all cables and kits free of charge. Wonderful, clear-cut instructions are also included.

Problem solved on the kit... now the wiring. I was told that there is an amp in the dash, and I need to hook my head unit into the wiring on the opposite side of it to bypass it... Where is it? or was I being fed a line of sh*t?

I had the same question I asked to Crutchfield technical support. Easiest solution is to remove the amp entirely and plug the harness into where the cables plug into the amplifier. And to think some places want to charge $80 for doing that! I'll do it myself, thank you very much and use the $80 for gas.

Nope. With the original wires and that they reached well. The connection on the "back" of the amp once unplugged has some length to it. It was rather easy, almost plug and play. The hard part was removing the amplifier. Get a long shaft philips screw driver, ideally one with interchangeable bits.

Nope you weren't being fed sh*t, it just below the head unit maybe 3x5 unit. I had to find it for my truck so that I can connect a adapter for preouts since the stock head unit I decided to keep does not have them.

COOL! I'll hopefully have some shots of my new Pioneer deck installed once installed and de-rattled. My Alpine installation was just crimped and put in there and as a result the head unit is rattling a bit. For the Pioneer I plan on securing it more then the Alpine.

Got it in. It looks great, and sounds even better.
I also unexpectedly got another new toy too. 2 ESX C Series 12's. I only have one in there now in a tuned port box. And its only getting about 175 watts... way too little for this sub. Its still lound as hell. I love it.
Spent an hour rewiring and tuning the amp/head unit today. Sounds even better, and the sub is even louder. Makes the liquid in drinks dance in the cup holders. lol... I love it. Overkill already, and I'm nowhere near done.
