    Question 2003-2006 factory radio

My factory cd player in my tundra quit about two months ago. Toyota wants 150 bucks just to look at the thing. So a buddy of mine said he would sell me his factory stereo for 50 bucks out of a 2005. My question is will a stereo from these year models work on a 2000. Is the mounting brackets different or the connectors. I could really use the info

I know that another member on here tried to put the stereo out of my 2003 in his 2000 and it was too wide.

Make sure that you're not mixing JBL and non-JBL stuff and you should be fine. I believe that the double din opening on all Tundras is the same. Since he's you buddy, can't you "try it on" first?

Coming Soon: Line-X, maybe a billet grill.

From 2002 to 2003 there was a change in the center console width for stereos. The bezel shape might be different. It should still work, though. I'd try before I buy.

The reason I was asking is that he lives in Florida and is unavailable to allow me to test fit it. I could go ahead and buy it but I dont want to have to deal with shipping hassels.

Have him measure the openings and dimensions on the head unit, and compare that to your own measurements of your existing dead unit.

Why replace your sucky factory stereo with another sucky factory stereo. You could get a upgraded stereo for relatively inexpensive if you look around for weekend specials at Circuit City, Best Buy, and etc. I have bought some open box equipment from Circuit City and they told me that they would honor the warranty.

    Just a thought.

I want to keep my truck with all toyota parts. I also have no desire for a loud stereo so the factory unit is fine. Plus I still have cassette tapes that I listen to. I do appreicate all the advice from you guys

For $50.00 I would buy it, you can always sell it for a profit later. Shipping will only be $8.10 if your friend uses the flat rate priority box.
