Optima red top longevity?

It's been a while since I posted on TS! I've been on deployment and I can't wait to go home in a few days. Anyways, my sister said she had to jump start my truck this past weekend. I'm using a red top optima and i purchase this batter back in sept 2001. does that sound right? roughly about a 5-6 yr battery life for a optima? i thought they go for about 7-8 yrs. I have the basic amp sub and AVN 5500 for my in car entertainment.

I bought a red-top back in '99 for my z28 and it cranks it ok, though it does read about 1/2volt low. I let it get too low one winter and it didn't fully recover even after some charge conditioning. However, until it flat-lines, it'll stay where it's at.
