Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "2006 Tundra Double Cab- Subwoofer help...", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
cool, you might want to check into trying to make all three subs have equal airspace. So, you got about .6 cubes in the storage compartment divided by two, gives you .3 cubes for each sub. So in the jack compartment I would make the fiberglass shell to be .3 cubes, that way everything matches and the response from each sub should be about the same.
CELLY, Can't wait to see how it looks, where in Orlando are you?

Yeah, I need to do a lil more measuring, but the numbers I'm seeing in WinISD is making me think I can get away with chambers and be happy.

Won't fit in the storage compartment of the DC. Atleast mine certainly didn't
Yeah, there are mixed reports about what people say will fit or not.
I realized this has to do with 2 things, how deep you cut your speaker rings, and the Height of the speaker.
The Plastic shroud (bottom of the seat) over the storage compartment leaves very little room.. So if you have a high excursion or tall speakers you'll loose about a half an inch in mounting depth becuase of how deep you need to bore out the holes so the speaker doesn't bottom out on the seat.

What is WinISD? I go to UCF and live in Winter Springs (seminole county), right down the street.
WinISD is a nifty lil piece of software that helps you see the response that you'll get from a particular setup. Granted there ate 100's of other variables that go into the way your system will sound, WinISD gives you a lil bit more of a warm fuzzy and helps you see potential problem areas before you start.
Has anyone looked into putting an L5 or L7 solo barric kicker with the baffle? they only require min. .33 cu in and the depth is at 4 3/4. Was just checkin out what other speakers would fit back there.
check out my pics-now understand I had these left over from another project.-it was not the best sealed thing-they thing is it did work very well-I didnt need it to hit real hard-and it is only an 8- But I will say just for an 8 inch speaker it hits--

L5's and L7's have the same mounting depth, but i believe the diameter on the L7 is pretty big, and the L5 is big enough where you will have to hammer out the side of the compartment in order to make it fit.
I considered mounting 8" solobarics under the seats however the tray on the left passengers side has a sloped side to the rear which detracts from mounting space and depth. If you knew a welder you could modify that compartment and make it more squared and deeper which would accomodate more sub. I don't know why toyota wasted so much open space under our trucks like that. I would've loved to mounted my s10l52 under the rear seats but it was just too large so it sits in a vented box in the back seat for now.
