Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "2006 Tundra Double Cab- Subwoofer help...", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I am interested in putting 1 10 or 12 inch subwoofer in my truck. I am new to this kind of thing and have no idea if a sub would even fit under the seats. I was hoping that one may fit under the middle seat and then run an amp under one of the side seats.
without any modification you will have trouble fitting a 10 or a 12 because of mounting depth, you could get a shallow mount, or put 3 8" subs back there.
Without doing some re-working of the compartments, I believe you can only put 8" subwoofers back under the seats. You can however get the JL Audio Stealthbox which has a 10w3 that fits in the center console.
Search the site there has been many discussions on this and pictures. You will find all the info you need.

Don't mean to derail the thread but was curious if any of you out there could tell me how hard it was to install the stealth box or if they had someone else do it. I'm looking at putting a system in my truck and would like to know. Thanks in advance.
Also, if anyone has installed the sub boxes that fit under the back seat where the jack and other misc. items go. Thanks again

I am having a local shop build a sub encloser with either an eight or ten inch sub to fit infront of the rear seat, behind the center console, in the middle on the hump. I'm pretty sure I'm going with the ten incher. Once it is finished, I'll post some pics.

Has anyone ever heard what the baffles for the 2 or 3 8's sound like or about the JL Console sub?
i have 2 8's in mine and its pretty loud. that JL cousel sub is very good if you want filler bass but if you want it really loud you should get the 3 8 baffles but put these in them Assassin 8 Subwoofer
each one of those alone has more output then the 10 that would fit inside that console. even if you only did 2 or 1 you would probably be satisfied. i know 50 bucks sounds to good to be true but there a fairly offbrand new company and they sell some pretty great stuff. people have been known to throw 400 RMS at them and they still hold up well even though the RMS is 350. i'm thinking about swapping out my jl's for these soon.

Check the mounting depth on those assassins, I think they might be too big, you will probably have to do some "whacking" on the bottom of storage compartment.

My JL 8Wo had a mounting depth of 4.25, no problem right? Nope, you also need to check the diameter of the magnet. The storage box gets real skinny down at the 3.5"-4" mounting depth. Mounting my sub on top of the 1/2" MDF brought my sub right into the bottom of the seat. I trimmed my seat to give it room. Was hesitant at first but the bottom seat trim hides a lot of room. I trimmed out the edge with black plastic door trim and painted the inside black.
