Default So why hasn't Toyota added MP3 capability to their 3-in-1 6 cd player??

I like the abilities of the 6 cd system,
tape, radio, and cd BUT, why did they
not put a MP3 capability in it???

Are the car companies scared to
have MP3 (I know there are a
couple of exceptions) capability??

Odd!

While it would be nice to have the MP3 capability, I find I can just burn CDs from MP3s in CD Audio format and have greater compatibility. I know, you can't get nearly as much music in CD Audio format, but I can still get over an hour on each CD. The reason Toyota has not adapted an MP3-compatible player is probably just cost. While it may be trivial, all the trivial items add up to larger sums and the Tundra is already at a price point that's criticized compared to the competition. I just wish they had made a standard-format unit that could be replaced with a better/more capable aftermarket unit.

forget the mp3 player and give it a good sound system. seriously, the speakers in the tundra can't be described without using words such as "piss-poor" "sucks" and "awful".
as far as the tape player goes- i can't believe they still put those in cars. does anybody know where you can still buy tapes? ditch the tapes and put in an mp3 player. i don't think it'll cost that much. my dvd player plays mp3s and VCD's, and it costs less than $150.

2 cents. . . . . look how long it took the industry(auto) to put CD players in vehicles as standard equipement??????? Also, why a tape player????? it's as useless as the nob that dims the dash lights. I know, I know, "books on tape". Give'm a couple of years.

How many after market stereos support MP3? I think I have seen only a couple and they also supported satellite radio.

I would rather tell them to pull the stero out and take the grand plus the charge and put my own system in.
