This is a discussion thread titled "2007 Tundra Head Unit Install Kit TOY-K967", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Finish is not really an issue. If you have the skill to install it, you have the skill to use a spray paint can. I just want to see what it looks like, physically. How it fits in place.. what one/two din looks like...
Who really wants to have a spray painted part in the dash of a $40,000 truck, I have always done my own installs in all my new trucks. I want it to look professional. I alway see things that most people don't. If you want to build a custom piece yes you need to paint it but if I am going to spend good money on a kit to make my job a little easier I want it to look good.By the way all the kits offered by all the companies are both single and double Din.

40k for a Tundra inless it's a crewmax limited with every option you payed too much There are a few companies designing the Black Piano finish just provide them some time on making it but I agree this kit should look very professional were on the same page there.
Yes it is a 4X4 crewmax limited TRD with the 5.7,it lists for over 40grand but there in no way in H%$ I paid that much. Yes scosche delaid there kit because it didn't match the dash to their standard(Piano Black ).

Scosche delayed a kit because they didn't have anyone to make it for them the way they wanted it. None of these companies manufacturer their own kits, it all comes from AI/BML.

I have a standard single disc factory unit in my Tundra. Is there a wiring harness for me to use? Or, do I have to do a complete re-wire job? I would just as soon use the existing wires and just replace the speakers when I install a new head unit.
Toyota harness is the same, unless you have the JBL setup, whcih is different.
Installed a single din Alpine head unit today using the AI kit. It has a "cubby" hole above the HU that can hold CD's. Double din install would eliminate the "cubby" hole. Flat finish blends real nice with the top of the dash.
Here's the AI dash kit. Whoops, back to the drawing board. Never uploaded a pic to this site before. Picture is JPEG and too large to post. Any suggestions?

Use Paint or any number of other programs to resize the JPEG.

The JPG has to be under 200k in size. Load it into your photo editing software, and save it with lesser or medium quality. This should reduce the file size of the image. Don't try to simply upload what comes straight from your camera.
