Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "2007 Tundra Head Unit Install Kit TOY-K967", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I can't find a dash kit anywhere either so I can mount my new pioneer DEH-P780 premier CD MP3 player...has anyone had any luck in this area? DAcat
There is a kit now talking a friend of mine that got a new Crewmax into replacing the POs Toyota factory headunit with something with More features like my Pioneer Z1/z2........I hate Toyota Navi and radios there Useless crap...
I started this thread before I got my CM. I originally planned on not getting a radio because I liked my USB/ipod capable JVC so much. When I got the vehicle it already had the upgrade radio. I figured, "Hmm, 6 disc mp3 that should hold enough music."
Now that I've had the truck for a few weeks, I know where it comes up short. Like others have mentioned, the radio is a dust magnet, When I wear polarized glasses it's nearly impossible for me to read (don't know if it is the radio or the angle oe the way the light was hitting it), if they show mp3 text why can't they have it scroll thru the entire text?
The speakers also sound crappy. It's like they are trying to go too low, in doing so they just distort. When you dial the bass out with the radio, it sounds worse.
This is how I'll plan my audio upgrade:
1) new front speakers put caps on the rears
2) new head unit
3) amp and sub
I figure that that should give the manufacturers plenty of time to develop products.
My installer said it could be at least another week or two before the install kits are ready...this is like the "water torture"...Drip...Drip...Drip...Arrgghhh!! I think I'll go on vacation the next 2 weeks-for real...Peace...Dacat
Hey guys I work at a local shop in san diego. We just ordered are firs batch and we are hoping for them by june 13th. They were shipping from florida. The only bad thing for eveybody that has one with the jbl system the harness is about 2 weeks on back order. make sure you guys get to your local shops and get them ordered before they are on back order again. As for prices metra said the kit will be about 59.99 and the amp intergrated harness will run $139.99. Just thought I would give you my input of what is going on.
Any questions give me a call at my shop and ask for Dan.

I have incoming some new 2007 Toyota Tundra head unit install kits from American International. I'll post some pictures shortly. The part number is TOY-K967 and you can order it in our on-line store.
In addition for the 2003 to 2005 Toyota Tundra I now have an adapter that allows you to utilize the factory JBL amp unit with an aftermarket radio. You no longer need to re-wire and buy a new amp if you don't want to. The part number is NC-TA10-T and as soon as they arrive on Monday I'll post some photos.

Yeah, I'd love to see some pics of the install kit.
Never heard anything about this install kit, but I know there are a ton of people, including myself, chomping at the bit to get a double din install kit for the Tundra.

Tundrsoul is the quality on this piece up to the Piano black that Toyota uses and are they of good decent quality that you would buy yourself? I am installing a Pioneer avic Z1 voice rec navi unit on a 2007 crewmax and looking for this missing peice of the pie but making sure the overall fit and finish measurements are Very good not tacky..
Thanks
Erik
I have been told by a few reputable installers the American International manufactures most of the kits available (ie, they make them for Metra and Scosche). Not 100% sure this is true, but I do know American Intl is a big player in the kit biz.
American International is owned by BML industries who wholesales parts and accessories to many different companies
