Unhappy Problem With Interior Climate Control Panel

I have a problem with the interior climate control panel that operates the air conditioner, heater, rear window defroster, etc. Sometimes all is working fine and then all of the icons vanish and the control panel quits working. Sometimes everything comes back on again in a few minutes and other times it doesn't come on again for hours. This car is a 2003 Avalon and runs perfectly except for this problem. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

one of your servo motor doors could be locking up and shorting out at times and causes screen to do that

what is a servo motor door and where is it located? I noticed that when I turn on the rear window defroster that I hear a clicking sound coming from inside of the driver side door panel. Is that where the servo is located?
