2002 Toyota Timing Belt
2002 Toyota AVALON - - IT'S BELT TIME! So I searched the internet and found a TOYOTA dealer in New Hampshire whose maintenance schedule listed timimg belt change at 120k miles - not the 90 K miles listed in local dealer's schedule. So at 117k miles I had the belt changed. Shop that did the change said he has never seen one fail before 150k miles, but for peace of mind - I should do it now. So I did - plus had the water pump, powersteering belt and generator belt, and cam shaft seals replaced as well. Timing Belt was a Toyota part, pump was name OEM brand. Cost was about $585. The removed belt showed no signs of wear - even had the toyota notations still on the belt. It did seem a little brittle however. Info is FYI only. Your time to change your belt is up to you.....
