are my heated seats broken?

I just bought a 2000 Avalon XLS tonight, what a sweet ride....she's got 96k on 'er, one owner, all service up to date, clean as a pin, got 'er for about 9200..

It's up around 85-90 degrees now in my area but I turned on the heated seats just to see if they were working but they didn't get hot at all on the driver or passenger side.

Is the car smart enough to tell that it's hot out, so it doesn't use the energy to heat up the seats? Or should they still get hot even when it's hot outside?

The closest schematic I could find was for a 98 model. It has no feature to tell the outside temp and I doubt yours does as lots of people use the seat heater year round for back problems. There is a 20 amp seat heater fuse on the 98 model and it is the only thing that will prevent both seats from heating aside from an open in the wiring circuit.
