2007 Avalon XLS Nav Screen frozen on initial startup screen

Using my center console, I selected Info, to see my current gas mileage. The display froze and all controls stopped working. Turning the car off and restarting, the Nav Screen was stuck on it's initial screen when you press the button to accept the understanding on the use of the system. Pressing the selection for Audio or Climate had no affect. Selecting a temp increase does display momentarily at the top of the screen as it should.

Does anyone know how to reset this short of taking it to the dealer??

Update: It finally started working again but I am uncertain why. Does anyone have a clue on this one?
