Default Outside Temperature Accuracy

I have a 2006 Avy Limited and the outside temperature on climate is not very accurate, usually more than ten degrees off. Does anyone else have the same problem?

This does not surprise me.

The MPG indicator on my '06 Avalon shows that I'm doing as Toyota claimed I would. If I fill up and manually record the milegae, I get 10% - 15% less MPG than the dash board MPG says I' getting.

I know this is off the subject, but nonetheless, shows that Toyota's modern day meters are way off base.

my car outside temp seem accurate, at least to what my web browser says it is outside just before I go out and get in and drive. It shows too high at first, but I attribute that to the heat of the parking lot it is sitting in in the sun...once driving, it comes to reality. Where's the sensor located, anyone know?

The sensor is beneath the front end of the car. The sensor will be deceptively high at first when the car has been parked outdoors on hot days ... after 3-5 miles it should be reading the ambient temperature reasonably correctly, but keep in mind that it's reading air temps less than 3 feet above the roadbed. This won't be a factor in colder weather.

I noticed that in my 99 XLS as well. It's not accurate when the car has been sitting in the sun or parked in the garage. Takes it several minutes before it starts to register close to what the actual outside temp is. More noticeable in the warmer months than it is in colder months. Just seems to take a little time before it gets to the right reading.

But usually it's within a degree or two of most of the other outside temperature signs, like at the banks and buildings that have those electronic temp signs as you drive by.
