I have a 2007 Avalon.
This is my first front wheel drive car and my first Toyota.
So I have lots to learn.
My first question: On the bottom of instrument panel, left of steering wheel, marked SET. What does this switch set??

Thanks.

Enjoy the car. This is a great time to study the manual, your best source for specifics.

Welcome. I too am new - 3 months in my 07 Touring.

That switch is to reset the tire pressure monitoring system. Details are in the manual, but you press the button once and it sets the current tire pressure as "normal". There might be a run-in time once you push the button, but I'm not sure. Do this after you check and inflate tires to standard pressures, or after anything that might affect the tire pressure, inflating, repairing a flat, etc.

The TPMS in this car is different than my 05 Sienna. That system uses the ABS sensors to determine differences between wheel speeds, so it sort of guesses that you have a flat. The Avalon has pressure sensors in each wheel, actually part of the tire valve, that transmit pressure readings to the system. Pretty slick, but you have to be cautious about any tire work so those sensors are properly cared for.

Enjoy your ride, and this forum.
