Default i do not know which navigation dvd to purchase

i have a 2005 avalon limited. I believe the navigation system is generation 4.

I want to upgrade to newer maps. I see a lot are sold on ebay. How do I know which one to purchase that will being me to one of the most current maps?

I believe the updated maps are only released once a year. This is at the beginning of the year, so the data is really from the previous year. IE the 2007 CD is made from 2006 map data. You might consider waiting till the early part of next year and grabbing the 2008 CD with 2007 map data.

Here's a site from which you can order a new dvd:

Toyota Parts and Accessories Factory online parts catalog cheap Wholesale Prices

Gotta warn you: nav kits don't change much from year to year, so you won't be gaining a lot getting a new dvd, the info on the new dvd is still a couple of years from being current, and you might have trouble with your system making the change.

When I upgraded to a new dvd for my wife's '05 Avalon, the new disk effectively crapped in the player and the nav system never worked properly again. Your results may vary, but if I had it to do over, I would leave it alone.

The voice nav was dead. When changing map scales, it took a minute or more for the changed scale map to appear. I could not enter street addresses ... the list goes on. All the nav system would do reliably was show where I was on a map.

Very strange what if you go back to the original disk?

Did you bring it to the dealer?

Is the issue covered under warrantee?
