Default Is TSB EG033-07 needed for ALL 2005 cars?

Just wondering.

I just bought a 2005 with 55k and I'm not sure if this TSB was done because the hood of the car was replaced and there are no stickers on it (like the once stating if the TSB was done or not)

Also I'm not sure the dealer will do this TSB for me anyway since the car has 55k on it, Is this TSB covered under the drivetrain warrentee? (60,000 miles)

Go into the dealership and comlplain of ERRATIC SHIFTING and IT JUST DOESNT FEEL RIGHT.
The TSB is for 8yr/80K miles
If it has been done, they can find that out by running the VIN thru the TOYOTA DATA BASE, or PM it to me and I will look for you.
If it hasn't been done and you complain about the specific problem, then there is no reason for them not to do it.

Wow that's good news.
I will PM you my VIN.

FYI: I stopped my my local dealer today and the service manager said it wouldn't be covered if the car pasted 3 year or 36,000 mile mark.

Your vehicle is good to go. This TSB has NOT been done. Just make sure you make "THE SPECIFIC COMPAINT" as stated in the TSB.

Hi...recently purchased a 2005 Avalon Limited with 30K miles. I have noticed an odd shifting pattern, but not sure if it is what TSB EG033-07 actually solves. During normal acceleration, the shifting feels quite normal. It does feel like it takes a while to get into its cruising gear. The main problem I am seeing is when I let off the accelerator and try to coast or cruise. It feels like it is stuck in a lower gear. Example...if I am approaching a stop sign/light say 1/10th mile away and I let off the gas to coast to it, it feels like the car is constantly in a lower gear. Almost like the car has downshifted so the engine will bring me to a stop prior to reaching the stop.

Does this relate to TSB EG033-07? I've been reading that, when done properly, it makes a big difference on 2005's. I haven't been able to locate a full version of the TSB, so I'm not sure if this issue is related. I'm planning on calling my dealer tomorrow to see if the TSB has already been performed on my car.

Thanks......

Hi All,

I had this TSB carried out for my '06 Limited and it made a big difference in down shifting. I have a long, uphill driveway and if I slowed too much the beast would downshift like someone dropped a railroad tie on it. Now it does it reasonably smoothly. Nice change, Recommended.

Thanks mustang67408 for checking my vin#. Had the work done at Sandy Springs Toyota in ATL - service rep was Kim
He put me in a loaner for 3 days and had car ready as promised- picked up car and it is like a totally new vehicle- shifts better, smoother and i am getting better mpg as well.
If you have not had this done- i suggest getting it done if you are having the symptoms.

+1, even if you don't think that you're having symptons. I had it done on my '05 (with 45k) two months ago.
