This was more along the lines of what I was thinking...I mean, I know the Avalon has many Lexus-esque qualities...but anyone who knows Lexus knows the Avalon is not a Lexus

I'm still slightly baffled. What's the point of adding Lexus emblems to your Toyota Camry or Avalon? I know that these cars resemble Lexus models, but there are some CLEAR differences. One being the fact that NO Lexus comes in XLE trim as njerald's Camry...

I know the avalon is not a Lexus but it is pretty close especially in that it is built in the USA.. I think the Avalon could easily get away with a Lexus rebadge if Toyota wanted to.

I do agree that Toyota has done some incredibily luxurious things with the Avalon. It is their flagship sedan and reflects as such. They definately have to add the whole touch-screen navigation system to the vehicle though...
But on a not-so positive note, it appears you either misspoke or are misinformed...

I suppose I could understand a badge swap to have a little fun with the automotive cognescenti. Ninety-nine percent of people would never notice, but those that do might share a laugh with you. If it's cheap and reversible and you have the time and money, why not? I'm in the Sienna club too, and some of those guys have actually made the switch, right down to the steering wheel cover, with photos posted on the forum! Go see for yourself (SiennaClub.org)
My Sienna is outfitted as closely to Lexus as any one gets, but I've never felt compelled. As far as the Avalon goes, it's drivetrain and specs are a close match for the ES, and they both share the Camry platform. I started shopping the ES, but the Lexus dealer made the mistake of showing me a low miles Avalon Limited.
Backseat room, Touring suspension and price delta made the decision easy for me. I trundled off to the Toyota dealer for a new one and saved probably 15 grand. I suppose I could use some of that to spring for Lexus badges, but I spent it on a trailer hitch and bike rack instead. Try that with a Lexus.

The Avalon is close enough to a Lexus design. Toyota could easily get away with calling the Avalon a Lexus. Interior room, performance, materials, relaibility....Toyota could do it. What I like about the Avalon is that it does not have the Lexus emblem on front. Not everyone wants a Lexus in their driveway. I sure do not.
If one wanted to impress someone, on the cheap, why not just photoshop one's picture behind the wheel of a Bentley.
Speaking of autodeception, look check out the fake Ferraris
