Default Avalon towing

I want to tow my 2002 Avalon, how do I set it up to do this. I will be using a car dolly. Should I tow in neutral or park, should I do any thing to set the car up so I don't damage the trans.

Thanks,
Gene

Put the front wheels on the dolly, with the rear wheels on the ground.
The front wheels can NOT go on the ground to tow. Even with the trans in neutral and the front wheels on the ground the differential of the transaxle will be turning which will turn the pinion shaft which will turn the out put shaft of the transmission. This will cause damage from lack of lubrication, because the engine is not running and not turning the transmission front pump.

Look at page 241 of your owners manual, it shows the proper way to tow your vehicle.
Page 242 warns you not to tow with the front wheels on the ground, just for the reason I stated above.
Good Luck

thank you for your reply. Now, can you tell me if it should be in "park" on the tow dolly?

Yes, it should be in park.
The wheels will be secured to the dolly with straps, if the straps should break, then being in park will prevent the vehicle from rolling off of the dolly.
