Default Air Intake Mod to Reduce Hesitation?

Hey folks,

I was reading a post in the Solaris forum that describes a modification to the air intake control to reduce hesitation.

Is there such a modification for the Avalon? I understand (from my dealer's service desk???) that the Avalon drive-by-wire causes the hesitation I experience, but I wonder if the air intake control is more the problem. IF so does anyone have suggestions as how to perform the same air intake bypass on the '06 Avalon?

Thanks,

Bob

Refer to the other postings relating to transmission fixes, there is a fix under warranty that involves a TSB (064?). This seems to have helped quite a bit for the hesitation I experienced in my '05 Avalon.

I've had the transmission reprogrammed per the TSB. No hesitation at all. I'd be real careful before I started modifying air intakes, etc. on any engine that is a computerized as the Avalon's 3.5L V6. Sometimes those Check Engine Lights that you create can be a real pain to permanently clear.

Thanks for your input. I did have the TSB installed because of the transmission issue - it's much better!! I brought the hesitation from a standstill to the attention of the service guy and he mentioned the drive by wire feature and a known hesitation relative to that. I was just questioning whether it was truly the drive by wire versus an air intake issue as in the camry

Thanks again,

Bob

I'm not positive, but I believe the TSB the dealer performed on my '05 Avalon involved BOTH a transmission reprogramming AND an air intake modification (I'm sure it involved the latter). Whatever they did, it's worked now for about a year.
