Still love my '96 Avalon, even though I just purchased an '08 Camry Hybrid, I still drive it from time to time.
Just a few questions, concerns....
What is the life expectancy of the airbag system? It's now 12 years old. I doubt that there is anything to do about it, but just wondering.
Is there any need to switch oil grades due to the age of the car? I typically go to Firestone and get what ever they normally use (10W30??).
Is there anything else an owner of a 'senior citizen' need to know?
Thanks!

My daughters sent the picture. For the record, the older daughter was driving and the younger one was photographer, as they know I don't condone photography at 60MPH

I don't know the answers to any of your questions, but I drove a '96 Avalon for 10 years and it had over 194K on it when I sold it to buy an '06 Avalon. I miss that car. I think it was a better vehicle than the '06. Used 5W30 Havoline or Pennzoil every 5000 mi with a top quality filter (Toyota, Purolator One or Wix). I think the guy I sold it to can drive it another 100K if he maintains it according to the owners manual. By the way, the brakes were never touched and still had over a third of their life left according to the mechanic.

I don't believe there is any time limit related to air bags. Replacing any of the bags would cost >US$500 (had one repacked) so I wouldn't even contemplate doing it.
