Hey all,

New to board...Quick question - I have an 05 Avalon Ltd with high miles 90K (we got it for cheap) ... Want to change the tranny fluid as I want to make sure its done (despite what previous owner said).

My tranny guy wants to use Dextron 5 in the vehicle...I thought I had to use the WS fluid...Should I allow him to use the Dextron?

Also, I want to add Lucas Tranny oil in with this change? Think thats a bad idea? I figure what the heck...

What do you guys think?

If it was my Avalon I would only use what the owners manual requires, WS- no additives. Why does he want to use anything else, WS has gotten it to 90k. I would find a new tranny guy.

Independent shop mechanics can't buy Toyota Type WS any cheaper than their customers can, so they can't make a profit buying and installing WS. But they can buy Dexron 5 and 6 dirt cheap so that is why they recommend Dexron to their Toyota customers.
