Default Knock at passenger side rear wheel

My Camry has a knock at the rear wheel when I hit a bump. It doesn't do it on all bumps. I have looked numerous times for something broken, loose, or worn out underneath but I don't see any problem. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Look at the strut and/or strut top.
1998 camry's had updated FRONT strut tops, due to knocking noise.

The REARS make the same knockign noise , due to worn upper strut mounts, and not necessarily a bad strut.
Usually you will see them wet appearing if they are leaking. I would suggest changing both sides if you do have 1 that is leaking, depending on your mileage.
The struts are difficult to access the top 3 nuts holding them to the body, you have to remove part of the rear seat, they sit just under the corner of the package tray (it doesnt have to be removed).
Just a thought

While you are looking at struts, look at the sway bar bushings as well. The rubber bushings where the bar mounts to the body wear out and the bar rattles around.

Default Re: Knock at passenger side rear wheel

I've got a rear suspention problem that causes the same symptoms.

Knock from driver rear wheel - particularly when the car is full of people or the truck is loaded. I noticed a rattle intermitently when accelerating from a stop also - I guess the sway bar. (its a quiet metalic sound for about one second). I looked nothing is loose under the car or dragging.

The suspension seems reasonalby firm for a 10year old car with 101K miles.

Is it bad to not repair this? What is the repair cost? I would probably take it to a shop.
