Default 99 Avalon Trunk lid release button
The wife's 99 ,the trunk will not open from the trunk release button on the key pod or the release button in the glove box .

Anyone else familiar with this problem ? or have the wiring diagram or know where the pickup is for the remote .

Is there a lever on the latch that will defeat those functions (valet mode) that may have been bumped?

I don't think there is any lever or valet mode the button is in the locking glove box .
