Hi! My name is Gene. I'm new here and have a similar problem with my 98 Avalon. However, the light is continuos, not flashing. Who is Barbos? Is this car drivable until I can find out what the cause is? Sure could use some input. Thanks.

Airbags can be dangerous, take it to a Toyota's Only, or Japanese Auto Repair shop, or the dealer and have it checked out. They can download the code that is being generated and troubleshoot it.

Good Luck, and tell us what you found.

I had similar problems with my 99 solara years ago, mostly a slow flashing... It ended up being the passenger side side airbag sensor in the seat back that went bad... I know this doesn't answer the questions for you guys but gives you an idea of what it is.... As for driving it, yes you can but with the light on the airbag system is turned off....
