Default Remote trunk release does't work

The remote trunk release and the trunk release button on the dash have given up the ghost (2000 Avalon XLS).

There doesn't seem to be any power going to the motor that drives the release mechanism. Where should I look to find the defective part?

Thanks

The first thing to check is to see if the trunk lock was turned counterclockwise , in some models that would disable the key pod from opening the trunk .

Thanks for the suggestion. My key lock will not turn counterclockwise.

Inside the lock mechanism, there is a white cam that is driven by an electric motor. It appears that this is what opens the trunk remotely (key fob or dash button). The cam moves slightly, but does not open the trunk. I will double check to make sure it is getting correct voltage.

Where on the car is the component that drives this signal?

Thanks
