Was directed here from ToyotaNation forum. Was looking for the TSB on shift problems with 06 & 07 Avalons. Joined, got what I wanted and will be looking at the Highlander section also since my son owns one. My 06 XLS is my second Avalon. First was a 1996 XL. Fine car for 200K. New owner (a friend) should be able to drive it at least another 100K All they require is regular maintenance. I expect the 06 to last at least as long.

Hello to everyone. I've owned my 96 XL for just over a month now and it's really a great car. This is my first Avalon, 5th Toyota, all with zero initial issues. Looking forward to many miles with this baby.

I bought my wife a new Avalon in 1999 and am looking for information on strut replacement. I'll perform a search and probably have questions on the process.

Hi, I have a 1997Avalon, the check engine light came on shortly after filling my gas tank. the dealership did a diagnostic check and said it was probably one of three transmission sensors or a loose wire. Its been two years and all is well except for that check engine light coming on and off. Is there an easy fix to this problem? Would disconnecting the battery work ?

Autozone usually gives yu a printout of what the codes mean. Do yu have more information to give us here?
Otherwise look up the DTC's online and come back with some more info on what components the codes are for.
I would make sure your Gas cap is in good condition and on Tightly. Sometimes the VSC MIL's come on for Evap pressure loss malfunctions. Just some obvious stuff to start out with.
BTW yu don't have to disconnect the battery for ONE hour. Just disconnect and press brake pedal several times. This works for me and many others.

Hello to All...........Just purchased a 2005 Avalon XLS in Feb. 08. Trpped to Fl. and unbelievable gas mileage! Plus loads of power and drives like a dream. I have the steering noise that is the intermediate steering shaft I have researched. I have owned 2 Cressida's since 1994, the 84 had 150K when I sold it to a person on ebay. I still have a 1991 that I drive everyday in the summer......130K. Great cars! I do believe that the Cressida's were built better than the Avalon. The Avalon is such a highway cruiser. Look forward to reading the columns on Tundra Solutions. Sferguson42
