Inguinal Bilateral Hernia Repair

Today I had surgery to repair a double inguinal bilateral hernia, which has been bothering me for...

Today I had surgery to repair a double inguinal bilateral hernia, which has been bothering me for many months. This is the sort of hernia that bulges out in your lower abdomen and where the sack hangs down into your scrotum.

If your bladder is full you'll feel pressure from it that can be very uncomfortable. Other activities like walking, running or exercise can also irritate the area. I can't imagine how people can live with it permanently but I'm told many do.

I was also told that this is the most common type of hernia and is easily repaired using a laparotomy procedure. The wonderful nurses and doctors at my hospital took great care of me always making sure I was comfortable and had everything I wanted.

The operation took less than 2 hours and I don't remember any of it. I remember waking up in recovery with three small bandages on my lower stomach where the surgeon entered and made the repair.

Afterwards the most difficult part was simply getting up and down. Anything that puts pressure of the stomach muscles will cause pain where the repair was made. On a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 is the worst pain you ever felt I would rate this a 4. A couple Vicodin is all I really needed and I was out of the bed by the end of the day to make this blog entry.

If you have a hernia I strongly recommend you have it repaired and not try and live with it.

Every time I hear the phrase separation of church and state I can only shake my head in disbelief....

Every time I hear the phrase separation of church and state I can only shake my head in disbelief. Mainly because if anyone is remotely familiar with our Constitution they would know that the words "separation," "church," or "state" are not found in the the First Amendment. Moreover that phrase appears in no founding document. The First Amendment, often referred to as the establishment clause states; "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." So where does this mantra of the liberal left come from?

The true origin of this metaphor is a [text bite] of a letter written by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists and often taken out of context. In 1801, the Danbury Baptist Association of Danbury, Connecticut, heard a rumor that the Congregationalist denomination was about to be made the national denomination. That rumor alarmed the Danbury Baptists and they sent a letter to President Thomas Jefferson voicing their concern. On January 1, 1802, Jefferson wrote the Danbury Baptists, assuring them that "the First Amendment has erected a wall of separation between church and state."

Congressional Records June 7 through September 25 of 1789 indicate our founding father's intent for the First Amendment. The founders were saying; "We do not want in America what we had in Great Britain; we don't want one denomination running the nation. We will not all be Catholics, or Anglicans, or any other single denomination. We do want God's principles, but we don't want one denomination running the nation."

In 1799 a court declared: "By our form of government, the Christian religion is the established religion; and all sects and denominations of Christians are placed on the same equal footing."

This nonsense started with the 1947 Supreme Court. In Everson vs. Board of Education, the Court for the first time did not quote Jefferson's entire letter, but selected eight words from it. The Court allowed that "The First Amendment has erected 'a wall of separation between church and state.' That wall must be kept high and impregnable [the 1947 Court's words to be precise]." A Court heavily weighted by Democrats by the way.

Many years later Justice Rehnquist presented the view that the establishment clause was intended to protect local establishments of religion from federal interference - a view which diminished the strong separation views of the Court. Justice Scalia has criticized the metaphor as a bulldozer removing religion from American public life.

An absurdity repeated often enough will become part of the political lexicon to be parroted by those too apathetic to discern the truth.

...over the future of my truck.

There's no doubt I want to lift. But I've realized there are several factors to consider before making a decision.

My original plan was to buy the SAWs front and rear plus the PRG UCA. This would improve the ride while I wait for a wheel I actually like, and run 35s. Eventually I would add a bracket lift to this setup, either switching to a SAW for lifted applications or running my existing SAW in conjunction with the lift's front spacers.

Here's the rub...I think I want to run 37s, and I cannot do the first suspension stage with 37s since they will not fit until I pick a bracket lift.

In the past I've pooh-poohed that size, thinking it's just too detrimental to acceleration, steering, etc. But 37s seem to be more conducive to the CM's body size, so now I'm torn.

I'm prepping for my graduate comprehensive exam on April 11th, so I guess I'llr revisit once the exam is behind me.

I am traveling with my girlfriend Noriko. Her parents still live there and her dad's birthday is Monday, so it'll be a special two weeks. We are planning to take the trains to Hiroshima, Kyoto, Tokyo, Mount Aso, and then Fukuoka. Site seeing and hanging out for the day/night in each city as we go along.

I'm very excited, but don't know if I'm more excited than my Norichan.:) She's off the walls right now. There's no way she's going to sleep tonight.

See you all in a couple weeks.

Why I can't vote for John McCain

*McCain Feingold (Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act):*
Re-read the first amendment and decide for...

McCain Feingold (Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act):
Re-read the first amendment and decide for yourself truthfully if this legislation is an overstep by our Congress, more judicial activism or a combination. Although George Bush was complicit in my opinion by signing this infamous legislation. I find this ironic since McCain was one of five senators named in the Keating 5 scandal (Lincoln Savings and Loan collapse in 1989) and beneficary of $1.3 million (collective total) in campaign contributions from Keating. McCain's take was $112,00 not including some air travel expenses of $13,433 paid for by Keating which to McCains credit were later paid back.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006: Any "conservative" who gets chummy with Chappaquiddick Ted is highly suspect. George Bush is just as guilty as McCain, Kennedy et al in trying to foist this travesty on the American public. McCain does not share the concerns of most Americans about this volatile issue. He along with the majority of his comrades chose to pander instead of representing their constituents.

Party Loyalty:
His spotty record of not supporting his party should cause alarm among true conservatives. How is he going to perform under pressure of domestic or international crises? He has become a pariah in his own party. Will the real John McCain please stand up.

Education:
Graduated fifth from the bottom of his class at Annapolis with hundreds of demerits. A structured environment just did not suit his personal style. His disdain for superior officers was well known-"it was bs and I resented the hell out of it." Could he be bitter because he never made admiral like his father and grandfather? His Annapolis years are very revealing.

Military Service:
John McCain is a decorated war hero! And I admire and laud his service to our country. Sadly his political service has not measured up to his war record.

Taxes:
One of two Republicans who voted against the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 aka "the Bush tax cuts."

McCain voted against the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003

Finally voted to extend the tax breaks in 2005.

On Flying The Confederate Flag In South Carolina:
"I feared that if I answered honestly, I could not win the South Carolina primary. So I chose to compromise my principles."

Fiscal Manager:
McCain could not effectively manage his own campaign finances early on so how would he manage our nations finances as president?

Marriage Score:
Two so far, the last a woman 17 years his junior. Infidelity wrecked the first.

Hello everyone. I was just cruising the net this morning and discovered this site. I have been looking for a site that allows fellow Tundra owners to share their own experiences and issues with other Tundra owners.....AKA Blog Site. =)

A little about me. I own a 07 Crewmax with TRD Offroad, 5.7, SR5...blah blah blah.
I have had it for 5 months now and have about 2500+ miles on it.
I had a local shop here in Fairbanks install an 2w autostart w/ alarm(come on...it is Fairbanks after all), Westin Side steps, 35% tint front windows, Roll n Lock bed cover, and some rain guards.
I am currently looking into exhaust systems, and any other power mods that will increase hp and gas mileage(is that even possible? =P).
Let me tell you, up here in the banks I have been avg 8-9 miles a gallon this winter (4Hi on almost all the time). Will this ever get better?...ugh. =).
I can't wait till spring and summer to take this truck on longer drives down to Valdez and Kenai for some much needed fishing.

I just wanted to say hello and you all will see me on more later. I have a bunch of little questions that I would appreciate all of your ideas, suggestions and experiences.

By way of introductions, I'm a retired Oregon Dept. of Forestry forester, so I've put a few miles on most of the domestic half-ton trucks that are Tundra's competitors - that's one big reason why I have a Tundra.

Synthetics

The expense of purchasing and maintaining a vehicle has grown disproportional to most folks income...

The expense of purchasing and maintaining a vehicle has grown disproportional to most folks income so it would stand to reason not to risk that investment no more than letting your home fall into disrepair. Inquire about an engine or transmission replacement to put things in perspective. Electronically managed engines and transmissions are too sophisticated to leave anything to chance. This is where synthetics can play a role in protecting and extending the useful service life of a vehicles' drivetrain components. Exception: those who abuse their equipment will pay the consequences no matter what kind of countermeasures are taken. If you trade vehicles every three or four years then synthetics probably aren't cost effective.

Conventional lubricants have come long way and get the job done however synthetics have the edge in my opinion if you plan on keeping the vehicle beyond 200K. There is psychological comfort with synthetics because of their molecular superiority and extended drain interval within reason.

Do your homework and make your own informed decision about what suits your specific needs. But if you're picky about your ride and know the value of a dollar then the added expense of synthetic is a small economic concession toward feeling secure and confident whether you're on the freeway, city street or a back woods trail.
