windshield area tapping noise 06 tundra crew

(Solution -Try taking hood lifts off)

I wanted to add this solution for those as frustrated as me - Like another member, I started to notice a tapping noise like a stone or bug hitting my windshield near the passenger side. Was it my antenna, bug shield, wipers, windshield, or dash? The dealership was kindly enough to keep it for a week and gave me a free loaner, but of course it rained every day, and they couldn't hear it. Trust me that I had to stop this Chinese water torture, and took the truck apart one piece at a time, thinking the noise was in the dash, window, or A post. Finally I took the hood lifts off, and the tap was gone (these are the piston rods that hold the hood open - you can pull them off the nubbed bases without any tools) Maybe I'll replace them at some point, but for now I'm just happy to drive in peace. Hopefully this helps at least one poor sole.
