braking vibrations

Posted 10-15-2009 at 06:47 PM by wsclark89
I recently changed the brakes on my o6. there is somekind of vibration that accures every time I hit the brakes. It is mild but annoying. nothing like warped rotor vibrations though. now I did my front brake pads, new roters and back brake pads. I had the drums shaped but was told that the next time I change the rear brakes, I need to buy new drums. Can the drums be causing this vibration, or is it something else?

Please define the VIBRATION? Did you mean PULSATION feels in the brake pedal when applied? Did your steering shakes side to side or it steady?
Most of the time you feel vibration in the steering ONLY WHEN APPLIED brakes - your front rotors are warped.
Most of the time when you TURN on E-brake SLIGHTLY (not all the way you be doing 360) at highway speed if you feel VIBRATION is coming from the seat then the drums are out of round.
Vibrations increase with speeds, could cause by tires are out of balance or high road force this problem is very common, and other type of vibration is increasing with speed are drive shaft, cv joints, rotors, and drums this type of vibration is very rare.
If you noticed virations after you replaced your rotors or drums, then you should go exchange them. Once time I had a customer complaints about vibrations is increasing with speed but did not tell me it happened right after MIDAS performed rear brakes. After balanced tires the vibration is still there, I put the drums on the balancer it was 5oz out.
