Default Brake Questions

Got a few questions regarding brakes / brake change.
I understand there are two pad sizes for an 02 tundra. is there a simplier way to find out if i am the big or small without jacking up and taking off the tire and such?
Might seem stupid...but can i just add brake fluid into the reservoir...hence mixing it with the stuff in there....or must i drain and replace?
Lastly...where online would you recommend for new pads and rotors....and what would you recommend for just a traditional all aroudn well performing pad. Dont need something special...just solid.

Thanks!
caleb

The bigger pads and calipers have little clips holding the brake pins in. The pins go thru the pads and then the clips hold them in.

The older smaller pads and calipers have a wire that goes thru the pins.

Yes you can add brake fluid to whats there, or you can drain and fill or have it flushed.
I personally believe in TOYOTA pads and rotors, many people have many opinions, your going to just have to find what works for you.

Or look at attached TSB (Thanks MEvang)

It's best to remove the wheel but you should be able to look through the wheel openings if you know what to look for. Look up the brake bulletin BR001-03 and print it. There are pictures in this bulletin that show the two different brake calipers.
I see no reason to buy brake parts on line. Most towns have reputable auto parts stores you can deal with. Ask some mechanics in your area where they buy quality parts. Then there is always NAPA. They have quality parts and they are everywhere.
Look for someone who carries Raybestos (Napa is reboxed) Wagner, Akebono, or Brembo. Other then this your Toyota dealer can supply you with the best product for your truck.

Napa does not have lifetime pads anymore. Parts america, or advanced auto as it is called in ohio has Raybestos pads. Good luck getting your pads off, mine were frozen to the caliper with those pins that go through the pads. I put a lot of never sieze on the pins before replacing.
