Default dust boots or complete rebuild?

Hello all,

I got some 13wl calipers from a junkyard to do the tundra tsb myself. One of the outer dust boots had a small tear in it. The pistons are out fairly far since the pads with the calipers were quite thin. Im wondering if I should try and do a full rebuild or just replace the outer boots? They cut the brake line and capped it off when they removed them from the original vehicle so Im hoping the inner seals are still wet and ok. I don't have an air compressor readily available to remove the pistons either. What do you all think?

Thanks,
Steve

You are much better off rebuilding the calipers at this point. You can't just buy dust boots, they will come in a kit with the square cut seals. So you might as well rebuild the units.
You will need compressed air to get the pistons out. You can pull off all the boots and put some rags in between the pistons. Cover the caliper and put air to the inlet, one piston will pop out. You then pull the seal out of that bore and stick that piston back in. You must clamp the piston in place, I like using welding vise grips. Put the air to it again and another will pop out. Continue till you have all four out. This is the most difficult part.
With all the pistons out clean it up and make sure there is no rust in the bores. Use Brake Assembly fluid or a little brake fluid mixed with Silicone brake grease to lube the square cut seals. Coat the area above the seal to the dust boot with silicone grease. Install your pistons and dust boots and your done.
