Dear Customer Service in Charge/ Manager,
I would like to thank you for the services that Toyota has so far provided to its customers around the world and I trust that you will not save any efforts to maintain this level of high quality service. This was one of the strongest reasons for me to take the decision and approach your outlet in Oman to purchase my new Corolla which unfortunately did not turn to be the one I expected in terms of performance. Below I have explained the problem and I am confident that you will have the right solution for me.
My new Corolla is 1.8 xli 2008 model ze142 chassis no. 9002795 bought on Monday 10 November 2007. I paid R.O. 400 down payment plus R.O. 22 for the registration and promised to bring the cheques by Thursday 13th November 2007 I received the car and kept it till Thursday 13th November 2007. But I noticed that the brake was not working properly and I was about to make an accident near the roundabout because of the faulty brake. I returned the car to the showroom and discussed my complaint with Sejo Mani, the sales Man. The Service Department tested the car and even a mechanic from the service went out to the road and tested it. He noticed the issue in the brake and decided to keep the car in the service till the evening to check and adjust the brake as they said. I asked for a test drive to return back to home but they refused at first but after a lot of pressure from me, finally they agreed and gave me a test drive.
I received a call on the same day, Thursday 13 November 2007 evening around 6:30 pm and they informed me that the brake has been adjusted and tested on different speeds and environments.
I received the car and tested it till Sunday 16, 2007, the brake was a bit better but I still noticed that there is a problem and the brake is not functioning well and the car run for further distance till it stops. At the same time I was receiving many calls regarding the cheques.
I returned the car to the service and I explained clearly to the sales man and the customer service man that I can’t accept a car with a defect in the brake which is the main safety attribute in the car specially that I am a female and I need to use the car daily to reach my working place which takes about 45 minutes driving in heavy traffic. I suggested changing the car, but they kept saying that is not an existing policy. I was very upset and I decided to cancel the deal but they replied it is not an existing policy too.
On Monday 10 November 2007, I went again to the showroom to finalize the car issue. I was there for more than 4 hours, the car has been tested by a customer care person, a mechanic and even Mr. A.B. Sinha, the Manager-Service tested the car. He concluded that there is no problem in the brake and he asked me to pick the car and test it for 10-15 days and if I found any problem to return it back for maintenance. Furthermore, I was very frustrated when I saw two scratches in the car although they promised to repair them.
Evening of Thursday 11 November 2007, I went to the showroom to pick and test the car, the Sales Manager didn’t allow me unless I pay the cheques first. It was a very embarrassing situation. Next morning the called again and asked me to come to pick and test the car?!!.
Now it is more than seven month and I am still not finished with this issue. I am bearing the cost of renting a car for all these months which is not a small amount.
Recently, I received a call from the lawyer in their Legal Department threaten me either to come and sign on papers giving up my down payment otherwise they will took the case to the court since I refused to accept the defected car.
I was seeking forward to replace my car with a new car which is functioning as brand new but as long as I have been treated injustice I want to cancel the deal and return my down payment back.

It's very unfortunate that your not happy with your car. I am not aware of any problems existing with the newer Corolla brakes system and your letter does not give us enough information on the problem to give any technical advise.
I am also not sure where your from. I take it's not the US. So I'm not sure what the consumer laws are for you. But in most places once you give up the money you have little recourse. If your not happy and you can get out of the deal I would advice you to do so now.

I'm not sure where you are at, but in the US, there is a "lemon law". Which states that if you need to take it back for the same reasons within a year on a new car, then you have the option to sell it back. (paraphrasing, of course)

Sounds like there is more than just Brake issues going on here.
