Default Changing brake pads on RAV4, anything extra I should prepare for?

Changing brake pads on 2004 RAV4 Sport, anything out of the ordinary I should prepare for?

I will be changing out all four corners in an effort to cease the consistant squeal/squeak coming from the right side. Using ceramic pads this time. The [car?] has almost 40k miles, and I'm positive they've never been changed or adjusted. We bought it used.

I've read some posts on brake pads and one specific thread on the Highlander's brake squeak. And from reading MEvang's replies, I've drawn the conclusion that the pads are giving the signs of the "Change Me Please!" symptom.

I've got the Toyota RAV4 repair manual, an extra set of TS member hands, and a younger set of hands (his son) to help things out.

Thanks for any assistance.

I take it your just changing pads and not machining the rotors. This is fine, but it's won't hurt to lightly scuff the rotors with sand paper, about 120 grit. Lube all the slide points with silicon grease and if the shims look rusty replace them with OEM shims.

make sure you dont mix up the the clips that go in the pad bracket because they only go one way, and it can be confusing. if put in wrong the the pads would be really tight and would warp rotors eventually

If you are experiencing noise problems, I would resurface the rotors and put a non-directional finish on them prior to installing the new pads.

Thoroughly clean and lubricate all hardware as well.
