Default Raybestos Calipers and Rotors from Amazon.com?

Hi,

I've got a 2000 Tundra. I'm going to attempt the Brake upgrade per the instructions on this forum..

I've found that amazon.com has the Raybestos RC11549, RC11550, calipers as well as the 96931 rotor.

They are $142.74 for each loaded caliper (no extra core charge, or it's built in..)

The Rotors are $59.42.

All of those prices include free drop shipping. So basically for Rotors, Pads, and Calipers it is $404.32 drop shipped from amazon.com

I'd get the rest of the parts locally..

So my question is, do you think I'd be better off going to my local Napa for these?

Do people recommend the Raybestos Rotors and Calipers over Brembo, or Toyota?

Is it a crap shoot with the loaded calipers on the quality of the pads I'll be getting, or does Raybestos do a good job?

Thanks for any insight..

-Jeff

Raybestos is good quality stuff. I have used their rotor for many years, top quality.
You can always get a loaded caliper that is a problem, they are all rebuilt. Look it over good, make sure there is not unusually damage, no problems with the mounting ears. Reject it if it has a bleeder repair kits ( a threaded insert with a small under sized bleeder) these will give you problems. Makes sure the threads for the brake lines are not striped or cross threaded. Make sure all the boots are on properly and the pin holes are not damaged.
Check these things no mare where you get your calipers.

You might be located closer to their shop then me..

I Went to rock auto and found the same parts from rock auto but the shipping comes to 66 bucks for Ground shipping to my house. Total with rockauto comes to 429.70 instead of the 404 from amazon for what looks like the same stuff.

Given MEvangs comments, I think I'll see if I can get the stuff locally for the same price first, if not then just go with amazon. I wonder if Raybestos sends it directly from their factory and just uses amazon as a store front, or if there is a middle man here..

Update:

I just called my local Napa, they have Napa semi-loaded calipers for 109 plus 55 dollar core, and I have to return the same kind to get the core back, DOE. And their rotors are 73.99.

I think I'll try amazon, they have a good return policy, so I'll give it a shot..
