Awesome Brakes, Part II
45,000 miles and I saw the brakes for the first time today. My, how times and situations change. I used to check the Dakota brakes monthly.
For a while now there has been an intermittant series of different kinds of klanks, klunks and bumps emitting from the front end, and I figured some were from brake pad shift and I thought I might be due for pad replacement anyway, since the Dakota needed them in that time frame.
The brakes are very impressive, compared to the Dakota which was a 98 with corrosponding older technology.
The Tundra has anti-skid and a four piston caliper. The pads were evenly worn perhaps 20%. Awesome, by comparison.
Here is the question;
There are two pins holding the pads in place. the upper pin has a 'W' type tension spring to position the pads. The lower pin is loose in it's hole and can wiggle freely.
Should there be a spring on the lower pin?
