Default Spongie brakes

I changed out my calipers, rotors, and pads. I was able to get the system back to normal after doing the drivers side, but when I tried to get the brakes blead on the passenger side it I was unable to get it back to where it was before. I have since had the brake fluid changed and reblead the front brakes 3 or four times without success. I can pump and pump the brakes but they never get hard as I think they should. I am at a loss. I also noticed a cable hanging down in the rear near the rear diff. How do I know the back brakes are bad? Thanks for your help..

Default Re: Spongie brakes

If while you were bleeding the brakes, you let the master cylinder go dry, you could have gotten air in the master cylinder. This air could get trapped there.
Best way to get it out is to bleed directly at the master cylinder. Have someone pump up the pedal and hold it. Crack open one of the brake lines coming out of the master. Loosen the line nut just enough to cause the brake fluid to flow out. Just as you would with a bleeder screw. Do this a few times and then move to the other line.
It's harder to see air release around the line nuts buts sometimes you can tell.
See if this improves your pedal.
